Dissent priest excommunicated by pope
A priest in Australia who advocated for women priests and gay marriage has
been excommunicated by Pope Francis. Fr. Greg Reynolds was excommunicated and
dismissed from the clerical state.
Archbishop Denis Hart of Melbourne said the pope’s action was due to
Reynolds’ public celebration of Mass without faculties and for his preaching
contrary to the teachings of the Church.
Those excommunicated may not receive the sacraments of the Church.
