Most everybody probably remembers the saga of Sweet Cakes
by Melissa. When the business refused on religious grounds to bake a cake for a
same-sex marriage ceremony it seemed like the entire State of Oregon came after
the business with lawsuits and fines ($13,000). Sweet Cakes took its case to
the U. S. Supreme Court where it was returned to

the state courts for
reconsideration in light of other Supreme Court rulings, notably that of
Masterpiece Cakeshop in which a similar refusal was upheld as legal. Oregon
courts repeated their earlier position leaving Sweet Cakes to go back to the
Supreme Court where things are pending. Thursday, one of the attorneys working on
the case from First Liberty, Stephanie Taub, will join Deacon Mike and Gina for
a discussion of the case.
